In this hands-on training course, you will learn how to install and configure VMware® Horizon Mirage™ software, as well as perform common administrator and end-user tasks. This course is based on the Horizon Mirage 4.0 release.

Ability to:

  • Use VMware vSphere® Client™ to view the state-of-virtual machines, datastores, and networks
  • Open a virtual machine console in VMware® vCenter Server™ and access the guest-operating system
  • Navigate Windows XP, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008

3. Migrating a Desktop from Windows XP to Windows 7

  • Prepare a migration environment for a Windows XP to Windows 7 migration
  • Perform a Windows XP-to-Windows 7 migration
  • Monitor the Windows XP-to-Windows 7 migration process
  • Troubleshoot a migration to Windows 7

4. Horizon Mirage Components and Architecture

  • Identify the function of each of the Horizon Mirage solution components
  • Define the Horizon Mirage layers
  • Diagram the Horizon Mirage architecture

5. Using Horizon Mirage for Desktop Recovery and Maintenance

  • Restore desktop data to the current endpoint by using a CVD snapshot
  • Use the Disaster Recovery wizard to restore a desktop image to a replacement endpoint and to a new disk drive on the same endpoint

6. Installing and Configuring Horizon Mirage

  • Recognize the operating system, software requirements, and hardware requirements to successfully deploy Horizon Mirage software
  • Install and configure Horizon Mirage

7. Performing Hardware Migrations
